About 2 months ago, Janene met Terri (the Animal Communicator) at a local trade show. Our house cat Frida was there, at the P&P booth.
Terri was so intuitive and helpful for Frida. She knew so many things about Frida (mostly health related) and our other 3 pets at home – without even meeting them or Janene even talking about them. So we had her over to the house for a private session. She spent some time speaking with the pets and helping us answer some important questions. At the…

If you’ve been in the store in April, you’ve seen our
“Bark For Green” display promoting Earth Day, featuring eco-friendly products. Janene has always poured her heart into making visually stimulating displays, but this time it paid off – literally. Planet Dog is one of our product vendors who’s a big supporter or eco-friendly products and dog rescue, held a contest across all their retail store accounts.
Janene’s display took first prize… Continue

I'd like to personally thank everyone for their amazing support during this time of sorrow. As most of you know, Cosmo, the store mascot, passed away last week. It has been a difficult time, but every day gets a little better because of our amazing fans! Over the past week we've received many cards, emails, and flowers.
In the photo, Cosmo's bed is graced with beautiful flowers surrounded by a white picket fence. (Thank you Amy!)… Continue

April's "Paws on the Patio" had another great result. We found homes for 3 pets - 2 dogs and 1 kitten. LA Animal Services was thrilled with another great day. (The new parents received their free $25 gift cards at P&P too!) Later that day, we also had a visit from a couple that adopted 2 cats from Bark Avenue. Congratulations to the new parents!
Remember, when you adopt, don't forget to plan time to learn about the essentials including…

Most of you have been following Cosmo’s battle against cancer and
his journey to accomplish his Bucket List. Unfortunately, Cosmo’s journey ended this past Sunday on Easter. Cosmo passed peacefully in his bed at home.
Unfortunately Cosmo could not finish his List and ended this journey rather suddenly. Just last week, Cosmo was at the beach and very active. His status took…

Two weeks ago,
Cosmo skipped the day at P&P and went for the beach. Cosmo used to live in Miami, so he used to be a regular. His favorite was to run down the boardwalk and pull his father on roller blades. Then he loved to stop on a dime and drop a deuce. (then I would go flyin past him). But since moving to downtown LA, he doesn’t get the chance to go that often.
The drive was pretty fast, less than 30 minutes to Long Beach.
Cosmo… Continue

Satchel is a regular visitor at P&P. He and his parent Lana are lucky enough to live in the neighborhood, so they get to visit very often. In this photo, Satchel celebrates his birthday in style. First, he went shopping and picked out this ultra stylish tie. We just got these Ties into the store so he’s one of the first to get one. Then he went over to the Pawbar to “get his eats on” and enjoy a special birthday meal. He sure did - he wolfed down his meal and did it in…

Last week Cosmo crossed off another list item by
visiting Venice Beach. He had quite a big day.
First, he cruised Abbot Kinney and shopped at some of the stores (including a visit to our friends Lance and Guy at The Modern Dog). Then headed down to the beach and boardwalk. The beach was busy and active as always. The boardwalk had tons of interesting folks and a lot of action. Cosmo saw some birds chowing down on some…

Cosmo has always been a big fan of grass. Two years ago when he gave up his causal lifestyle of San Diego and moved to downtown Los Angeles, he knew he would soon be surrounded by concrete instead. Since then, Cosmo doesn’t get to see grass that often. We all become guilty of becoming busy and not making enough time to enjoy the grass areas downtown. We’ve made the effort to visit more often and enjoy some quality time in the parks, even if they are…

On March 16, Cosmo officially turned 14. But on March 24,
Cosmo celebrated his birthday at P&P with over 50 dogs and a packed house. Everyone partied like a rock star at the Hollywood–Style event. Each doggie guest was greeted by host Cosmo with a Hollywood garland and a walk along the red carpet. Cosmo looked ultra festive in his tuxedo and garland. ***
Everyone was well nourished by
Lee’s tasty hors de ordervs (Lee – you…

Downtown LA recently hosted the Luxury Pet Pavilion, a trade show for retail store buyers across the country. This show has been described as “the ultimate in luxury pet trade shows”. Our very own
Janene Zakrajsek was asked to present a seminar on the topic of Pet Product Design Display and Visual Merchandising. As you’ve seen in the store, she does a great job of merchandising, so she spoke to dozens of store owners, giving important…
